It's all 'Elemental' in Las Flores Warren B. Williamson's TIZ ELEMENTAL (Cee's Tizzy) kept her perfect record over Cushion Track intact with a come-from-behind victory in Sunday's $150,000 Las Flores H. (G3) at Santa Anita. The four-year-old filly took first run at tiring pacesetter Overly Tempting (In Excess [Ire]) in the stretch and held the late-charging Glorified (Honour and Glory) at bay to score by a neck under Victor Espinoza. Intangaroo (Orientate), upset winner of the Santa Monica H. (G1) in her last start, made a nice rally inside the winner to finish another neck back in third. Final time for 6 1/2 furlongs was 1:14. Tiz Elemental, the 8-5 favorite, returned $5.20, $2.60 and $2.20 to her backers. Glorified, the 9-5 second choice, paid $2.80 and $2.20, and capped a $1 exacta worth $6.10. Intangaroo paid $2.60 to show and completed a $1 trifecta (4-5-6) worth $11.50 as the 7-2 third choice. Overly Tempting finished fourth and was followed by Butters (El Prado [Ire]) and Acinonyx (Luhuk). Overly Tempting spurted out to an early lead, setting blazing fractions of :21 and :43 3/5, while Tiz Elemental tracked between horses. Still maintaining an advantage at the head of the stretch, Overly Tempting drifted out slightly when tiring and was collared by the top pair inside the eighth-pole, with Tiz Elemental going the better of the two late. Now three-for-three on Cushion Track, Tiz Elemental improved her overall record to 7-5-1-0 with earnings of $393,260. In addition to her Las Flores title, Tiz Elemental also won her last two stakes appearances. She won the 1 1/16-mile Melair S. at Hollywood Park last April, and most recently captured the six-furlong Honest Lady S. at Santa Anita on February 24. A California homebred trained by Carla Gaines, Tiz Elemental was immediately followed in the winner's circle Sunday by her full sister Tiz a Blend, who captured the Valentine Dancer H. for California-breds. Both are out of the Grade 3 winner Blending Element (Ire) (Great Commotion), who also has an unnamed two-year-old filly by In Excess (Ire) and an unnamed yearling colt by War Chant.
