Liam's Dream rallies up rail for Cicada Mr. and Mrs. William Warren Jr.'s LIAM'S DREAM (Saint Liam) rallied strongly up the rail to the lead and drew clear to a 1 1/2-length decision in Saturday's $100,000 Cicada S. (G3) at Aqueduct. Third when making her stakes debut in the Forward Gal (G2) at Gulfstream Park previously, the Tony Dutrow-trained three-year-old filly improved her record to 4-3-0-1 when completing the six-furlong test in 1:10 over the fast inner track, and the dark bay lass has now earned $149,760. Forward Gal winner and multiple Grade 1-placed Bickersons (Silver Deputy) showed speed until weakening in the stretch, reporting home sixth as the 3-5 favorite. Liam's Dream was checked at the start and saved ground along the inside while racing in midpack behind early fractions of :22 1/5 and :45 1/5. She advanced rapidly out of the turn to reach the front, passing the eighth pole with a one-length advantage in :57 3/5, and out-finished runner-up Romantic Hideaway (City Zip) in the final furlong. "She broke a little awkwardly, but I was able to save ground," said jockey Rosie Napravnik, who won her first graded stakes race. "In the stretch, when she came through on the rail, she really fired. She was very, very game today." Sent off the near 6-1 third choice, the winner paid $13.60, $6.70 and $6.40. Romantic Hideaway, who rallied into contention on the far outside in upper stretch before settling for second at 7-1, gave back $7.30 and $5.30, and it was 3 1/2 lengths back to late runner Indian Burn (Indian Charlie), who returned $10.40 at 21-1. The exacta yielded $69, the trifecta $1,017 and the 2-7-3-5 superfecta, with 9-1 Fizzy Britches (Pollard's Vision) on the bottom, totaled $3,143. Southern Truth (Southern Image), the early pacesetter, came next under the wire, and Female Drama (Indian Charlie) rounded out the seven-horse field. Bred in Pennsylvania by Karen and Gary Farrar, Liam's Dream is third stakes winner from the abbreviated lone crop of late 2005 Horse of the Year Saint Liam (Saint Ballado) and hails from a classy female family. Her dam, the winning Danzig's Dreamer (Rubiano), is out of Grade 2 queen and 1990 Acorn (G1) runner-up Danzig's Beauty (Danzig), which makes her a half-sibling to successful sire and multiple Grade 2 winner Distorted Humor (Forty Niner) as well as multiple stakes vixen Dancing Gulch (Gulch). Danzig's Beauty is out multiple Grade 2 winner Sweetest Chant (Mr. Leader), and other runners in this immediate family include 2008 Mother Goose (G1) runner-up Never Retreat (Smart Strike) and Grade 2 hero Cassaleria (Pretense).
