Juddmonte reveals notables booked to Frankel

Juddmonte Farms on Monday released a glittering array of Group 1-winning/producing mares that will visit Frankel this year. The unbeaten five-year-old will begin his breeding career later this week at Banstead Manor Stud.

"His book of mares is as one would hope and expect for 'the best racehorse ever,'" said Philip Mitchell, general manager of Juddmonte Farms. "We are most grateful to all the breeders in Europe, America and Japan who have put their faith in Frankel, and as a result we have one of the most impressive books of mares that a first-season sire has received."

Among the list are a number of mares that are based or raced in the United States, including Balance, a multiple Grade 1 winner and a half-sister to Zenyatta; Eden's Moon, last year's Grade 1 Las Virgenes victress who sold for $1.525 million to Mandore International at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale; Icon Project, the 2009 Grade 1 Personal Ensign Handicap heroine; In Lingerie, the 2012 Grade 1 Spinster winner who RNA'd for $2.2 million at Fasig-Tipton November; Mi Sueno, winner of the 2009 Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante; Oatsee, last year's Broodmare of the Year and dam of Grade 1 winners Shackleford and Lady Joanne; Rose of Summer, whose foals included Grade 1 winner Laragh and Grade 3 winner Summer Front.

Also visiting Frankel will be Stacelita and Zagora, who both earned Eclipse Awards as champion turf mare in the colors of Martin Schwartz. Stacelita was purchased privately by Teruya Yoshida at the end of 2011 and was bred to Smart Strike last year, while Zagora sold for $2.5 million to Mandore International at Fasig-Tipton November several days after winning the 2012 Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf.

Another former champion turf mare, 2007 honoree Lahudood, is also among Frankel's initial book of mares.
