Cuvee filly rockets in :9 4/5 at Ocala

CUVEE AWESOME, a filly from the first crop of Grade 1 star Cuvee, sizzled one furlong in :9 4/5 on the synthetic Safetrack at Sunday's under tack show for the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's February Sale of Selected Two-Year-Olds in Training. Cataloged as Hip No. 61, the Florida-bred hails from the consignment of McKathan Farms, agent. At last Sunday's under tack preview, she worked the same distance in :10 2/5 despite hitting the rail.

The bay juvenile is the third foal from the winning Awesome Again mare Miss Awesome. Cuvee Awesome's second dam, multiple stakes victress Tanja (Allen's Prospect), is a half-sister to three stakes winners, including multiple Grade 3 scorer and classic-placed Midway Road (Jade Hunter), as well as Canadian Grade 3-placed sophomore Briarwood Circle (Smart Strike).

Three youngsters tied for the fastest quarter-mile by drilling in :20 4/5. WINGINGIT (Songandaprayer), offered by Eisaman Equine, agent, is out of the stakes-winning Mighty Rose (Mighty Appealing). The Florida-bred colt, who sported Hip 60, is a half-brother to the stakes-placed pair of Mighty David (End Sweep) and Amazer (Quaker Ridge). Wingingit has already visited the sales ring, having brought $100,000 as a weanling at the OBS October Sale in 2006. The dark bay reeled off one furlong in :10 1/5 last Sunday.

Hip 95, a daughter of freshman sire During, turned in the same fast time. Consigned by Shadybrook Farm, Inc. (Michael Yates), agent, the Kentucky-bred is the first foal from the winning Ruby Tango (Miner's Mark), who is herself a half-sister to stakes winners Dancing Water (Silver Deputy) and Dancing Deputy (Silver Deputy) as well as multiple Grade 3-placed Jinny's Gold (Gold Fever). The filly has plenty of sales experience. After selling for $25,000 as a weanling at OBS October, she fetched $20,000 as a Keeneland September yearling. At the preview, the bay zipped one eighth in :10 1/5.

A colt by first-crop sire Alke, Hip 135, likewise blazed in :20 4/5. The Southern Cypress Stable, agent, juvenile was posting his second straight bullet. Last Sunday, the Florida-bred smoked one furlong in :10, tying with 13 others for the fastest move at the distance. The dark bay is the first foal from the unraced West Broadway (West Acre), a half-sister to the stakes-placed Mz. Mazuma (Robyn Dancer). This is the family of $2 million earners Beautiful Pleasure (Maudlin), who was named champion older mare of 1999, and Mecke (Maudlin), a multiple Grade 1 hero. Another notable member of the tribe is Grade 3 winner and sire Fortunate Prospect (Northern Prospect). The youngster was an RNA as a weanling at OBS October.

All of the workouts were recorded and will be available for viewing on Monday afternoon at www.obssales.com.

The one-day auction is scheduled for Tuesday at the OBS Sales Complex, beginning at noon (EST).
