Indian Blessing tops Pool 1 of Oaks Future

Champion INDIAN BLESSING (Indian Charlie) catapulted into 4-1
favoritism by the conclusion of Pool 1 of the Kentucky Oaks Future Wager on
Sunday evening. The undefeated Bob Baffert trainee ended her championship
juvenile campaign with an easy 3 1/2-length win in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile
Fillies (G1). She made her sophomore debut a head score in the Santa Ynez S.
(G2) at Santa Anita, and was a length victress on Saturday when taking the
Silverbulletday S. (G3) at Fair Grounds.
Two-time Grade 1 queen
COUNTRY STAR (Empire Maker) was the second choice in Pool 1, closing at 9-2. Country Star broke her maiden at Keeneland last year when taking the
Alcibiades S. (G1), then followed that up with a 2 3/4-length score in the
Hollywood Starlet S. (G1). The Bobby Frankel trainee posted her last recorded workout on
January 20 at Hollywood Park.
PROUD SPELL (Proud Citizen), winner of last year's Matron S.
(G2), closed at 8-1 in Pool 1. Trained by Larry Jones, the bay lass has run
second to Indian Blessing in both the Breeders' Cup and Silverbulletday.

Undefeated PURE CLAN (Pure Prize), last seen taking the Golden
Rod S. (G2) at Churchill Downs in November, was listed at 10-1 when wagering
closed, while GAME FACE (Menifee), the seven-length winner of the Old Hat S.
(G2) on January 12, was bet down to 18-1.
The all-other three-year-old fillies entry ended at 5-1.
A total of $65,219 was wagered during the four-day pool, which
was down from last year when $66,206 was wagered on Pool 1. Two more pools are
forthcoming on March 6-9 and April 3-6.
