Macho Uno colt commands $250,000 at OBS opener A colt by Macho Uno brought a winning bid of $250,000 from Terri Pompay, agent for Klaravich Stable, to top Monday's opening session of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training. Cataloged as Hip No. 273, the gray was consigned by Woodside Ranch, agent. The Florida-bred juvenile was produced by the Storm Cat mare Enterprizing Cat, who is a half-sister to Canadian stakes queen and Grade 2-placed Silver Bird (Lit de Justice). Enterprizing Cat is herself out of Family Enterprize (Tri Jet), winner of the 1992 Spinaway S. (G1). The session topper's fourth dam is Glorious Spring (Hail to Reason), a full sister to two-time European champion and influential sire Roberto. The youngster worked one furlong in :10 1/5 at last Tuesday's under tack show. In his first auction experience, he was sold for $19,000 as a yearling at the 2007 Keeneland September sale. Bear Stables Ltd. went to $160,000 to secure a son of Yes It's True, who toured the ring as Hip 342. The bay colt is the first foal from the stakes-winning Frenchglen (Forestry), successful in the 2004 Jersey Girl S. at Belmont Park. She also finished third in the Forward Gal S. (G2) that season and retired with a mark of 8-3-1-1, $133,191. Frenchglen is a half-sister to Dr. Nick (Authenticate), who was runner-up in last year's Bashford Manor S. (G3). This is the family of stakes victress and multiple Canadian Grade 2-placed May Night (Gulch). Offered by Niall Brennan Stables, agent, the Kentucky-bred earned a share of the bullet at the under tack show by drilling one eighth in :10. He was a $52,000 yearling purchase at Keeneland September. On Monday, 188 horses were sold for a total of $4,867,400, down 18.2 percent from the opening session last year, when $5,952,000 was realized by 203 horses. The average declined 11.7 percent, from $29,320 to $25,890. The median dipped 5.3 percent, from $19,000 to $18,000. The four-day sale continues Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. (EDT).
