Padua secures OBS session topper A colt by Silver Deputy sold for the top price of $220,000 to Padua Stables at Tuesday's session of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training. The session topper was consigned by Parrish Farms, agent. He previously sold for $77,000 at the 2007 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. Cataloged as Hip No. 577, the bay colt is the first foal out of the winning Kris S. mare Kris Star, a full sister to 2003 Cradle S. winner Breeders' Futurity (G2) runner-up Tiger Hunt and Grade 3-placed Tiger Trap. At last Wednesday's under tack show, the colt worked a quarter-mile in :21 3/5. The session's second highest price was a $210,000 outlay by Hal Earnhardt for a bay filly by Toccet, who was consigned by Murray Smith, agent. The filly previously sold twice as a yearling, most recently bringing $100,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale. Cataloged as Hip 475, the filly is the fourth foal out of the winning Jade Hunter mare Hunting Jade, a half-sister to the multiple stakes-winning Misnomer (Miswaki) and the stakes winning Darling Danzig (Time for a Change). Hunting Jade is out of the stakes winning Danzig mare Danzig Darling, a half-sister to Canadian champion mare Pennyhill Park (Ascot Knight). At last Wednesday's under tack show, the filly worked a quarter-mile in :21 2/5. On Tuesday, 202 horses sold for $6,196,200, up 7.7 percent from last year's second session, when $5,751,700 was realized by 210 horses.
