Storm Cat colt brings $400,000 John Fort paid the top price of $400,000 for a colt by Storm Cat at Wednesday's session of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training. Cataloged as Hip No. 761, the session topper was consigned by Stephens Thoroughbreds, agent for Vision Sales. He previously sold for $200,000 at the 2007 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. The dark bay colt is out of 2001 Santa Monica H. (G1) heroine Nany's Sweep (End Sweep) and is a half-brother to last year's Seaway S. (Can-G3) winner She's Indy Money (A.P. Indy). Nany's Sweep is a daughter of multiple stakes winner Nany's Appeal (Valid Appeal), who also produced the stakes-winning, black-type producer Our Dear Ruth (Baldski). At last Thursday's under tack show, the Kentucky-bred colt breezed one furlong in :10 1/5. A filly by Posse, Hip 907, sold for $275,000 to Spring Valley Farm. Consigned by O & H Bloodstock (Terry Oliver and Bo Hunt), agent, is out of the winning Crafty Prospector mare Real Crafty Belle, who is a half-sister to stakes winner Infield Shift (Lear Fan). Her second dam is English stakes winner Green's Belle (GB) (Night Shift). At the under tack preview, the Kentucky-bred miss worked a quarter-mile in a bullet :21. On Wednesday, 193 horses sold for $6,407,000, an increase of 21 percent compared to the same session a year ago when 198 horses realized $5,293,800. The average price rose 24.2 percent, from $26,736 to $33,197. The four-day sale continues Thursday at 10:30 a.m. (EDT). For complete results, as well as live video of the auction, visit obssales.com.
