Hip No. 3636, a filly by Malibu Moon, topped Thursday's session of the
Keeneland September Yearling Sale when going to SGV Thoroughbreds for $140,000.
The bay was consigned by Woods Edge Farm (Peter O'Callaghan), agent.
The February 29 Kentucky-bred is out of the stakes-placed My American Girl
(Quiet American), and her second dam is Busher H. (G3) winner and stakes
producer My Girl Jeannie (Hostage). This is the family of Anew (Awesome Again),
victor of the 2006 True North H. (G2).
The session topper was a bargain $14,000 yearling at Keeneland January.
The only colt to bring six figures Thursday was a son of Afleet Alex, who was
purchased for $100,000 by Steve Bajer, agent. Cataloged as Hip 3389, the
Ontario-bred is the first registered foal from Senorita S. (G3) queen Virden
(Tactical Cat), a three-time stakes winner and earner of $194,768. The colt's
fourth dam is 13-time stakes star and successful broodmare Politely (*Amerigo),
the dam of stakes scorers Northerly (Northern Dancer) and Salutely (Hoist the
Flag).
The dark bay with the March 3 birthday hailed from the Adena Springs
consignment.
