Rachel Alexandra meeting up for auction A personal visit with RACHEL ALEXANDRA (Medaglia d'Oro) goes on the auction block Thursday -- the grand final item in Kendall-Jackson's "Rachel Alexandra Running Auction," benefiting The V Foundation for Cancer Research. The auction will end after seven days at noon on November 4. The winning bid will earn a trip for two to New Orleans and a private visit with the phenomenal filly who ran undefeated in 2009, winning the Preakness S. (G1) and defeating both the Kentucky Derby (G1) and Belmont S. (G1) winners in her three victories against colts. Rachel Alexandra, thought by many to be the front runner for Horse of the Year honors, broke the stakes and/or track records in many of her races, as well as set records for largest winning margins. In 2009, she won all eight of her races. The auction is being held at www.kj.com, where full details of the final item will be described. As bids are taken and recorded, a real-time total shows where the price stands at any given moment. In addition, a cumulative total of money raised to date will be featured on the Kendall-Jackson web site home page. The cumulative total of all auction proceeds will be given to the V Foundation during the Breeders' Cup at Santa Anita.
