Mizdirection among stars to sell at Fasig-Tipton's November Sale

Mizdirection remained perfect on Santa Anita's downhill when repeating in the Turf Sprint (Breeders' Cup Ltd.)
Fasig-Tipton will conduct the November Sale at its Newtown Paddocks headquarters near Lexington, Kentucky, on Monday. The firm's premier mixed sale features 222 offerings, with the single session to begin at 4 p.m. (EST).

The auction is redolent with Breeders' Cup flavor, as exemplified by MIZDIRECTION (Mizzen Mast), who became the first repeat winner of the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (G1) on Saturday.

AUTHENTICITY (Quiet American) tours the ring on the heels of her third in Friday's Distaff (G1), while SUMMER APPLAUSE (Harlan's Holiday) and GREAT HOT (Orientate) were fourth and seventh, respectively, in the Filly & Mare Sprint (G1).

There was a significant addition to the catalog on Sunday: a weanling half-sister to newly-crowned Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) star Mucho Macho Man (Macho Uno), sired by Tapit. Cataloged as Hip No. 222, she is stabled in Barn 3G.

"This is a unique opportunity for buyers to acquire an outstanding filly by one of the world's leading sires in Tapit within 48 hours of her half-brother winning the Breeders' Cup Classic," Fasig Tipton President Boyd Browning said.

Several had previously been supplemented to the sale. Among them are GOLDEN ARTEMIS (Malibu Moon), carrying a full sibling to Alcibiades (G1) romper My Conquestadory (Artie Schiller), who was fourth in last Friday's Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1); DANCEINTHESUNLIGHT (A.P. Indy), dam of Dwyer (G2) winner and Classic contestant Moreno (Ghostzapper), in foal to Giant's Causeway; and multiple Grade 1 vixen CHAMPAGNE D'ORO (Medaglia d'Oro), in foal to Tapit.

Other mares with offspring in action in the Breeders' Cup are PALACE RUMOR (Royal Anthem), the dam of Belmont S. (G1) winner Palace Malice (Curlin), who was sixth in the Classic; MISSY TURTLE (Kyle's Our Man), the dam of Champagne (G1) scorer Havana (Dunkirk), who was second in the Juvenile; DANCING TRIESTE (Old Trieste), the dam of Juvenile Turf runner-up Giovanni Boldini (War Front); BOBBIE USE (Not for Love), the dam of Filly & Mare Sprint contestant Starship Truffles (Ghostzapper); and HAY JUDE (Wavering Monarch), dam of 2012 Turf star Little Mike (Spanish Steps), who was seventh in his title defense.

A few Breeders' Cup contestants in the catalog have been withdrawn -- She's a Tiger, who was disqualified after passing the post first in the Juvenile Fillies (G1), and her unplaced rival Designer Legs; Sweet Lulu, fifth in the Filly & Mare Sprint; and Clenor, unplaced in the Juvenile Fillies Turf.

A weanling half-sister to Mucho Macho Man was added to the sale on Sunday (Breeders' Cup Ltd.)
Champion AWESOME FEATHER (Awesome of Course), winner of the 2010 Juvenile Fillies during her Eclipse Award campaign, is offered in foal to Medaglia d'Oro.

The boutique sale includes a number of other high-profile hips, including Grade 1-winning millionaire JOYFUL VICTORY (Tapit); two Grade 1 winners in foal to world champion Frankel, IN LINGERIE (Empire Maker) and MI SUENO (Pulpit); multiple Grade 1 queen LOVE AND PRIDE (A.P. Indy) carrying her first foal by Distorted Humor; Grade 1 victress CARELESS JEWEL (Tapit), in foal to Bodemeister; Canadian champion and 2011 Queen's Plate heroine INGLORIOUS (Hennessy); RHUMB LINE (Mr. Greeley), the dam of multiple Grade 1 scorer Zazu and Grade 2 victor Flashback, back in foal to their sire Tapit; SPEED SUCCEEDS (Gone West), the dam of Grade 1 hero Brilliant Speed (Dynaformer), in foal to Street Cry; Grade 1 queen WILLA B AWESOME (Awesome Gambler), carrying her first foal by Medaglia d'Oro; and Grade 1 winner PURE FUN (Pure Prize), last seen finishing fifth in Saturday's Chilukki (G2) at Churchill Downs.

"There are some international 'first of their kind' situations among the breeding stock on offer," Browning said upon the release of the catalog. "Last year's weanlings sold exceptionally well, which has allowed us to recruit 67 selected foals this year, with many by stallions you find at the head of national sire listings and sales statistics. This is going to be a very exciting and productive sale, and the supplemental entries will add to an already sterling catalog."

Fasig-Tipton will once again offer its popular "Enhanced Catalog," which may be accessed via mobile phone, tablet or desktop computer. The Enhanced Catalog provides updated catalog pages and updated Daily Racing Form past performances as they occur, as well as race replays, news stories, photos and statistics.
