Daaher launches 2008 campaign in Donn Shadwell Stable's DAAHER (Awesome Again) wrapped up last season with outstanding victories the Cigar Mile H. (G1) and Jerome H. (G2), and the Kiaran McLaughlin-trained colt will make his highly anticipated four-year-old debut in Saturday's $500,000 Donn H. (G1) at Gulfstream Park. The 1 1/8-mile event will serve as a steppingstone for Daaher's next start in the $6 million Dubai World Cup (UAE-G1) on March 29. Daaher, who currently owns a three-race winning streak, will face eight rivals on Saturday with regular rider Mike Luzzi. A. P. ARROW (A.P. Indy) will enter his six-year-old season with optimism following his score in the Clark H. (G2) at Churchill Downs. Winner of the Skip Away H. (G3), the Todd Pletcher runner also finished third in the Donn and Gulfstream Park H. (G2) over the local track in 2007. Ramon Dominguez will retain the mount. Clark runner-up BRASS HAT (Prized) will return to Gulfstream for the first time since winning the 2006 Donn, and the Buff Bradley-trained gelding will keep regular rider Willie Martinez in the saddle. Grade 1 turf winner EINSTEIN (Brz) (Spend a Buck), who returned to the races this year with a sharp score over allowance/optional claiming rivals on the sod, will move to the main track for Helen Pitts. The six-year-old gelding captured his last two dirt starts, but both came on wet tracks. SPRING AT LAST (Silver Deputy), winner of the 2007 Godolphin Mile (UAE-G2), will make his second start back off the layoff after taking a grass allowance/optional claiming affair at Santa Anita, and Grade 3 hero FAIRBANKS (Giant's Causeway), runner-up in last year's Suburban H. (G1), is also in the line-up. Turf stakes winner WOOD BE WILLING (Pulpit) will lead the call to the post under a 115-pound impost that includes Jose Lezcano. He'll be followed by Spring at Last, Eibar Coa, 119; DR GOOGLES BOOGLES (Richter Scale), Kent Desormeaux, 115; Daaher, 120; A. P. Arrow, 119; Fairbanks, John Velazquez, 116; KISS THE KID (Lemon Drop Kid), Eddie Castro, 115; Brass Hat, 118; and Einstein, Edgar Prado, 119.
