Finallymadeit leads the way in Skip Away

Rolba Thoroughbreds’ homebred FINALLYMADEIT (Concerto) took command soon after the start and was never challenged in the $100,000 Skip Away S. (G3) at Gulfstream Park on Saturday. Trained by Javier Negrete and ridden by Eduardo Nunez, the oft-raced five-year-old negotiated splits of :23 3/5, :48 3/5, 1:13 2/5 and 1:38 prior to finishing off the 1 3/16 miles over the fast main oval in 1:56 3/5. The 8-5 choice paid $5.40, $3.20 and $2.80 while keying the $40.80 exacta, $255 trifecta and $854.60 superfecta (2-5-1-3).

Tizbig (Tiznow) tracked the early tempo prior to finishing best of the rest while 8 1/4 lengths back in second at nearly 13-1. The runner-up was good for $8.80 and $4.20. Cool Gator (Macho Uno) rallied from last to garner show honors while 2 1/4 lengths clear of his nearest foe. The 22-1 shot paid $7.20. Fierce Wind (Dixie Union) capped the superfecta and was followed by Imawildandcrazyguy (Wild Event), Nistle's Crunch (Van Nistelrooy) and Tomcito (Street Cry [Ire]).

Finallymadeit improved his career line to 42-15-7-4 following this score, boosting his bankroll to $931,265 in the process. The Florida-bred earned his biggest win prior to this in the Fred W. Hooper H. (G3) in December, and has since run second in the Donn H. (G1) and Gulfstream Park H. (G2).

The winner was bred by Rolando Rodriguez and Rolbea Stables in the Sunshine State, and was produced from four-time stakes heroine Gold for My Gal (Gold Alert). Finallymadeit has a juvenile half-sister by Band Is Passing.
