Cost of Freedom, E Z's Gentleman meet again in Bing Crosby Grade 1 winner COST OF FREEDOM (Cee's Tizzy) will seek his third straight victory of 2010 when he heads to the post in Sunday's $250,000 Bing Crosby S. (G1), but he could face a stiff challenge from the up-and-coming E Z'S GENTLEMAN (Yankee Gentleman). A total of seven sprinters are entered for the six-furlong event at Del Mar. Winner of the 2008 Ancient Title (G1), Cost of Freedom just missed when posting an excellent neck third in the Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) in his 2009 finale. The John Sadler-trained gelding opened his seven-year-old season with an impressive 4 1/2-length score in a May 6 allowance/optional claiming event and exits a tally in the June 5 Los Angeles H. (G3), winning by a diminishing three-parts of a length over the fast-finishing E Z's Gentleman. Rafael Bejarano will replace an injured Tyler Baze. E Z's Gentleman improved off the Los Angeles, netting a career-best 106 BRIS Speed rating for his 3 1/4-length win in the Triple Bend (G1) on July 10, and the Bob Baffert charge will look to turn the tables upon his main rival. The five-year-old ridlging retains the services of Martin Pedroza. SCENIC BLAST (Aus) (Scenic [Ire]), Australia's Horse of the Year and champion sprinter in 2009, will make his second start stateside. In his first attempt for John Shirreffs, the six-year-old gelding found his best stride late in the June 27 Robert K. Kerlan Memorial H., making up plenty of ground to finish only 1 3/4 lengths back in fourth. He's eligible to take a step forward with Mike Smith in the saddle. Kerlan winner MY SUMMER SLEW (Siberian Summer) is also part of the Bing Crosby mix. Lazaro Barrera Memorial (G3) winner SMILING TIGER (Hold That Tiger) will step up to face elders for the first time, and graded winners EL BRUJO (Candy Ride [Arg]) and SKY CAPE (Najran) round out the line-up.
