Holiday still Dynamic in Herecomesthebride
"Our trip was perfect," Dominguez recapped. "I was hoping she was going to put herself into contention because it seems like you have to be pretty close to the pace on the turf right now. Everything worked out perfectly. There was enough speed to set up her run, and she was good again today. Her last few races, she's really gotten good." "I think that was her best race yet, and she's run some good ones," assistant trainer David Rock observed. Mystical Star (Ghostzapper) rallied from well back for runner-up honors, 1 1/4 lengths ahead of Excited. Another half-length away in fourth was Triune, who finally got the better of War Prospector by a head. Forest Legend (Forest Camp) crossed the wire in sixth, followed by the troubled pair of Parting Words (Artie Schiller) and Holidaysatthefarm (Smarty Jones), and Sassy's Dream (Flower Alley) trailed. Dynamic Holiday advanced her record to 7-4-2-0, $232,575. Runner-up to eventual Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G2) queen More Than Real (More Than Ready) in a turf maiden at Saratoga last August, the bay broke her maiden two starts later over Keeneland's Polytrack. Dynamic Holiday hasn't lost since. After a two-month freshening, she reverted to turf for the January 1 Tropical Park Oaks at Calder, just prevailing by a nose. She was more emphatic next time out in the February 12 Florida Oaks at Tampa Bay Downs, where she rolled by 1 3/4 lengths. "She's been very reliable," Rock said, "except for the one race (when seventh in a turf maiden at Belmont Park on September 19). We never could find a reason for that. She just threw in a bad one." The Pennsylvania-bred Dynamic Holiday is a half-sister to last year's Tropical Park Derby (G3) hero Cat Park (Tale of the Cat). They are out of stakes winner Dynamic Cat (Dynaformer), who has since produced a juvenile filly named Appealing Cat (Successful Appeal) and an unnamed yearling full sister to Dynamic Holiday. Dynamic Holiday's third dam is Creaking Board (GB) (Night Shift), winner of the 1992 Hollywood Starlet S. (G1) and Miesque S. after being sent to the United States from France, where she placed in the Prix Robert Papin (Fr-G2) and Prix la Fleche. Creaking Board is a full sister to German highweight Dyhim Diamond (Ire) and German One Thousand Guineas (Ger-G2) heroine Dakhla Oasis, and would go on to foal Grade 3-winning sire Crowd Pleaser (A.P. Indy). This is also the family of Godolphin's Skysurfers (E Dubai), the winner of the February 10 Firebreak S. at Meydan. Third in the 2010 Godolphin Mile (UAE-G2), Skysurfers could try to improve on that performance in the March 26 renewal. Dynamic Holiday, in contrast, won't be seen for some time; she's going on holiday. "The plan has been that after this race she would get a break, probably until summer," Rock said.
