Monmouth announces stakes schedule Led by the Grade 1, $1 million Haskell Invitational on July 29, Monmouth Park has announced a total stakes schedule of $6 million, including 17 graded events, for the 2012 racing season. Among the notable changes to the calendar are the return of the Grade 3 Eatontown on June 30, the Grade 3 Red Bank on July 4 and the Grade 2 Monmouth Cup on July 7. Another significant change is the placement of the Grade 2 Molly Pitcher, which will now be run on Haskell Day. In addition to the Molly Pitcher, Haskell Day will also feature two other graded events, the Grade 3 Matchmaker and the Grade 3 Oceanport, as well as three $100,000 stakes races. Getting an upgrade for the 2012 meet is the Grade 2 Monmouth on June 10, which will once again serve as a prep race for the Grade 1 United Nations on July 7. The remaining Grade 3 events on the schedule are: the Violet on May 28; the Pegasus on June 17; the Boiling Springs on June 23; the Jersey Shore on July 14; the Monmouth Oaks on August 11; the Philip H. Iselin on August 18; the Cliff Hanger on September 1; and the Sapling on September 2. Listed stakes, each worth $100,000, include the Long Branch on July 8 and the Sorority on September 2. Overnight stakes will be announced at a later date. Monmouth will race 65 days from May 12 through October 7.
