Open houses abound in January

Several farms in Kentucky, New York, Maryland and Pennsylvania will be holding open houses during January.

Castleton Lyons near Lexington, Kentucky, will hold its open house January 4-9 from noon to 3 p.m. (EST). Fans may visit three-time champion Gio Ponti and Grade 1 winner Justin Phillip. Ashford Stud near Versailles, Kentucky, will also begin its open house on January 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., but will run one day longer. The farm is home to Giant's Causeway, Fusaichi Pegasus and Tale of the Cat, just to name a few. Please call 859-873-7088 or visit coolmore.com.

Both Crestwood Farm and Adena Springs will allow guests to visit their stallions on January 5. Crestwood, near Lexington, is scheduled for noon to 5 p.m. while Adena Springs, near Paris, Kentucky, will take place in the evening from 4-8 p.m.

Crestwood's roster of stallions will include two new additions in multiple Grade 1 winner General Quarters and Bullet Train. Darley at Jonabell, located near Lexington, will play host January 6-9 from noon to 3 p.m. Its stallion herd will see champion Animal Kingdom and Group 1 winner Denman join the ranks of Bernardini, Street Cry and Street Sense. Mill Ridge Farm, also near Lexington, will hold its open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale, which is scheduled for January 6-10. Sequel Stallions New York near Hudson, New York, will hold its open house on January 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The farm is home to such stalwarts as Freud, Desert Party and Forty Tales, who will be joined in the stallion barn by Emcee for 2014. Northview Stallion Station, which has locations in Maryland and Pennsylvania, will hold open houses at both farms in January. The farm near Chesapeake City, Maryland, will welcome guests on January 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., while the Peach Bottom, Pennsylvania, location will open its doors on January 25 during those same hours.

The Maryland farm will feature E Dubai, Orientate and Not for Love, while the Pennsylvania branch will see El Padrino and Bullsbay join established sires Jump Start and Smarty Jones.
