Trained by Todd Pletcher, the five-year-old mare exits a sharp 1 1/2-length score in the Orchid H. (G2) at Gulfstream Park. Safari Queen is versatile enough to lead or rate, and John Velazquez will be in the saddle. The 124-pound top weight will spot six pounds to all of her rivals. The classy six-year-old mare BARANCELLA (Fr) (Acatenango) will be seeking her first stakes win. Runner-up in the E.P. Taylor S. (Can-G1) in late October, the Bobby Frankel charge finished second behind Safari Queen in the La Prevoyante H. (G2) two starts back. Javier Castellano will retain the mount. MAXINE'S HYMN (Seeking the Gold), an allowance winner two starts back for Neil Howard, will make her stakes debut, and the stakes-placed MOON BERRY (Brz) (Burooj) also merits respect.
