TRACK BANDIT PREVIEWS
Ten opponents will get together on Saturday to contest the $150,000 Bay Meadows Breeders' Cup H. (G3) at 1 1/8 miles over the turf. BOLD CHIEFTAIN (Chief Seattle), who comes off a 50-day layoff for trainer Bill Morey Jr., is exiting victories in both the Alamedan H. and California Dreamin' H. His front-running tactics could prove beneficial and he could continue his streak here as there is not a lot of speed in this one. Russell Baze has the call. ISIPINGO (Horse Chestnut [SAf]) exits a third in the Del Mar Mile H. (G2) which ended a three-race winning skein, and he has only missed the board once during his seven-race career. The Craig Dollase-trained four-year-old has finished no worse than second under jockey Michael Baze, who will be aboard Saturday. SWEET ROBERTO (Red Ransom) got back to his winning ways earlier this month at Del Mar, defeating allowance/optional claiming company by three lengths in his return to the turf for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer. The gray gelding has never finished worse than second on the grass (5-2-3-0) and should play a factor. Raced only twice in the past two years, CHATTAHOOCHEE WAR (War Chant) hasn't posted a win since April 2005, but has been going well ever since then, including a good third in the Secretariat S. (G1) three starts back in 2005. He may be questionable with the lack of starts lately, but the Bobby Frankel trainee has the ability to finish up well. HEATSEEKER (Giant's Causeway) hasn't finished worse than second in four of his last five outings. The chestnut was awarded the win via disqualification in late June, but has never crossed under the wire first since coming to the United States last season. His connections hope to change that here in his first start under the guidance of Hollendorfer. NOW VICTORY (Sharp Victor) was third most recently to JACK'S WILD (Lil Tyler) in the California Turf Championship H. last month, has been consistently in the money versus minor stakes company and could show up in the bottom of the exotics. Despite Jack's Wild's win over Now Victory, he has not been reliable against like company. We will go against. MACDUFF (GB) (Machiavellian) was no threat in the Mervin H. Muniz Jr. Memorial H. (G2), but came back to run second against allowance rivals, third in the Golden Gate Fields Breeders' Cup H. (G3) and then fourth in the Cougar II H. most recently. He was prominent in the allowance levels, but just can't seem to get it done against stakes company. We're betting against. SHINING DAY (Comet Shine) has not produced at the lower ranks and the move up seems a little premature. BLUE TORPEDO (Rahy) exits a seventh versus allowance/optional claiming foes and we don't expect the former claimer to do much here.
