Horizon Stable’s STUPENDOUS MISS (Dynaformer) made an incredible comeback in
Saturday’s $200,000
All Along Breeders’ Cup S. (G3) at Colonial Downs to grab
her first stakes victory. Taken to a seven-length lead in the early going of the
1 1/8-mile turf affair by jockey Gary Stevens, the dark bay filly set splits of
:24 2/5 and 1:13 4/5 before being overtaken near the quarter pole by Humoristic (Sefapiano).
Humoristic passed the next checkpoint in 1:38, but Stupendous Miss re-rallied
strongly on the outside to obtain the one-length victory, traversing the
yielding course in 1:51.

The Wally Dollase trainee came home the 8-5 favorite to return $5.20, $4.20
and $3.40 to the betting public. Humoristic followed at 9-1, returning $7.40 and
$5.60 while ending the $59.80 exacta. Dynamia (Dynaformer) finished another neck back in
third to give $4.80 at 7-1 and end the $402.40 trifecta. Topiary (Arch) brought
up the rear of the 8-11-9-2 $1 superfecta which paid $2,980. Sagitta Ra (Run
Softly), Broad Hopes (Broad Brush), Path of Thunder (Thunder Gulch), Briviesca
(GB) (Peintre Celebre), Coquinerie (Sahm), and Stormin’ Daina (Storm Creek)
completed the order of finish. With Affection (Red Ransom), Larrupin Gal
(Larrupin’), Class Yankee (Northern Baby) and Snowdrops (GB) (Gulch) were all
scratched from the race.

Stupendous Miss was bred in Kentucky by Gainsborough Farm and is out of the
Grade 1-placed Subeen (GB) (Caerleon). She counts herself as a half-sister to an
unnamed yearling colt by Maria’s Mon. Stupendous Miss increases her overall
record to 9-5-1-0 with this score and more than doubled her earnings to
$226,916.
