True Metropolitan among Sovereign Award finalists

The Jockey Club of Canada has announced the finalists for the 2007 Sovereign

Awards. TRUE METROPOLITAN (Proud and True), the 2006 champion older horse in

Canada, is a strong candidate to repeat following an outstanding season in which

he captured six stakes in his homeland. Northern Dancer Breeders' Cup Turf S.

(Can-G2) hero SKY CONQUEOR (Sky Classic), a Grade 1 winner in the United States,

and Canadian International (Can-G1) victor CLOUDY'S KNIGHT (Lord Avie) are both

finalists in the male turf horse category. The three-year-old male division is

also very contentious, with Prince of Wales S. winner ALEZZANDRO (High Yield),

Queen's Plate winner MIKE FOX (Giant's Causeway) and last year's champion

juvenile, LEONNATUS ANTEAS (Stormy Atlantic), all in the mix for top honors.

The 33rd annual Sovereign Award ceremonies will take place at the Westin

Harbour Castle in Toronto on December 14.
