Saratoga hosts Fabulous Fillies Day on eve of Alabama

The New York Racing Association (NYRA) will celebrate Fabulous Fillies Day at

Saratoga Race Course on Friday, and all fans who wear pink will receive free

admission.

The first 1,000 women (ages 16 and older) through the admission gates will

receive a cubic zirconia. Each will be directed to bring her stone to one of two

representatives from Northeastern Fine Jewelry on track to determine if she is a

recipient of a genuine diamond. The woman who receives the genuine diamond will

select from one of three Hearts on Fire diamond pendants, the world's most

perfectly cut diamond, valued at up to $7,000.

The winner is anticipated to make her selection during a special winner's

circle presentation Friday afternoon.

Fabulous Fillies Day will feature a number of special events and activities

designed to honor women of the Thoroughbred industry while raising funds to

support The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).

NYRA will card an all-filly racing program in concert with the day's theme.

Pink bunting, ribbons and flowers will adorn the track, including a pink flower

blanket on the horse statue in the Paddock. 

Ladies will be invited to make a grand entrance on a red carpet leading up to

the admission gates at Union Avenue and the Clubhouse. Track patrons will have

the opportunity to commemorate the day with a professional photograph against

the backdrop of one of several Saratoga scenes.

French Mountain Commons & Log Jam Outlet Center will randomly distribute

1,000 pink drawstring bags featuring the Fabulous Fillies Day logo and

containing coupons to the outlet center in Lake George to fans throughout the

day.

Women will be treated to pink hair extensions and pink polish from

Complexions Spa & Salon at the Saratoga Style tent with proceeds to benefit BCRF.

Patrons will also be able to purchase a pouch of pink-foiled horse medallions

from Saratoga Sweets located near the Jockey Silks Room for $5 with proceeds to

benefit BCRF. Pink wristbands will be distributed to fans inside the gates with

donation to BCRF.

The centerpiece of the day-long affair will be the Sizzling Hot Pink Saratoga

Hat Luncheon to benefit BCRF in the At the Rail Pavilion. This year's luncheon

is in memory of BCRF Founder and Chairman Evelyn H. Lauder and will honor

Thoroughbred owner and breeder Virginia Kraft Payson. The event will be emceed

by Jeannine Edwards from ESPN.

Fabulous Fillies Day will take place on the eve of the running of the Grade 1

Alabama, Saratoga's signature stakes race for three-year-old fillies.
