New York commission absolves Saez of Travers misconduct

Last updated: 10/4/13 4:27 PM

The New York State Gaming Commission has concluded its investigation into the
allegation that an electrical device was used by Luis Saez, the jockey of Will
Take Charge, in the August 25 Travers at Saratoga, and found that that Saez was
not carrying any sort of electrical device and that trainer Eric Guillot’s
allegation was wholly unsubstantiated.

Guillot trains Moreno, who finished second to Will Take Charge by a nose.

“This has been a terrible time for my family and for my professional life,”
Saez said. “I was confident all along that my name would be cleared as I had
done nothing wrong.”

“The charges repeatedly made by trainer Eric Guillot against this young,
outstanding rider are now finally in the history books for what there were from
the start — baseless, reckless and false,” said Karen A. Murphy, Saez’s
attorney.
