Island Town romps in Smarty Jones at Parx
Island Town (Hard Spun) tracked front-runner Souper Colossal (War Front) for
nearly seven furlongs and then drew off late to captured Saturday's $300,000
Smarty Jones (G3) at Parx by 6 3/4 lengths.
Ridden by Brian Hernandez, the Ian Wilkes-trained Island Town had previously
captured the Matt Winn (G3) at Churchill Downs but was only fifth in last
month's Indiana Derby (G2) over a sloppy track.
