Rachel Alexandra has second winner as Jess's Dream rallies
from far back
Like his younger half-sister three weeks before him,
Jess's Dream (Curlin)
made a successful debut on Monday to give his dam, 2009 Horse of the Year Rachel
Alexandra, two wins at the Saratoga meet.
Jess's Dream, a son of two-time Horse of the Year Curlin, made up more than
18 lengths in the nine-furlong maiden event. Lagging far behind through six
furlongs, Jess's Dream kicked into high gear with a seven-wide bid in the
stretch and scored by a length under John Velazquez for trainer Kiaran
McLaughlin.
Earlier in the meet, Rachel Alexandra's second foal, the two-year-old filly
Rachel's Valentina (Bernardini) captured her debut by two lengths.
