Casse dreaming of Derby 142; field favored in Pool 1 of KDFW

Last updated: 11/29/15 8:48 PM

Norman Casse, assistant to father and trainer Mark Casse, is already dreaming

about next year's Kentucky Derby (G1) following a pair of wins at Churchill

Downs on Saturday. Airoforce (Colonel John) captured the Kentucky Jockey Club

(G2) and stablemate Conquest Big E (Tapit) took an allowance/optional claimer.

Mohaymen (Tapit) and Lewis Bay (Bernardini) exited their respective wins in

Saturday's Remsen (G2) and Demoiselle (G2) at Aqueduct in good order.

Sunday saw the close of Pool 1 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager (KDFW) as well

as the inaugural Kentucky Derby Sire Future Wager. The field ended up being

favored in both, with unbeaten Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) hero Nyquist (Uncle

Mo) the individual favorite for the KDFW and Tapit reigning supreme over all

other individual interests in the Sire Future Wager.

Sunday also saw the end of Mr Speaker's (Pulpit) racing career, as it was

announced that the Grade 1 winner is taking up stud duties at Lane's End Farm.

In stakes action on Sunday,

Shonan Pandora collared Last Impact to score in

the Japan Cup (Jpn-G1) to give sire Deep Impact a one-two finish in the Tokyo

Racecourse contest. At Del Mar,

Dressed in Hermes (Hat Trick) prevailed in the Cecil B. DeMille (G3) a

couple of races before

Stormy Lucy (Stormy Atlantic) upset the Matriarch (G1) at

65-1.
