Only one runner broke the 100 mark in a stakes contest during the period of October 23-29. Battle of Midway competed in the Comma to the Top Stakes at Santa Anita Park and easily romped by 4 1/2 lengths as the even-money favorite for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer and jockey Flavien Prat.
Leofric and Sower came close to earning a triple-digit BRIS Speed rating with their performances in Keeneland's Fayette Stakes (G2) and Belmont Park's Pumpkin Pie Stakes, respectively. The former won by a head, good for a 98 figure, while the latter posted a 5 1/4-length wire job to garner a 97 rating.
