| Race Summary |
|---|
SURF CAT a half step slow to begin, saved ground chasing the pace, moved up
sharply inside on the second turn, came out three deep into the stretch to gain
the lead, then drew clear while drifting in under some light urging and a strong
hand ride until the late stages. SPELLBINDER had good early speed and dueled
inside, fought back on the second turn, could not match the winner in the
stretch but held second. DIXIE MEISTER three deep into the first turn, chased
off the rail, came a bit wide into the stretch and bested the others. KEEP ON
PUNCHING between foes early, prompted the pace outside the runner-up, was
between horses into the stretch and weakened. GALLARDO four wide into the first
turn, settled off the inside chasing the pace, angled in some on the second
turn, came out into the stretch and did not rally.
