David and Jill Heerensperger's INDYANNE (Indian Charlie) returned to the winner's circle on Saturday when eking out a head victory in the $300,000 Thoroughbred Club of America S. (G3) at Keeneland under Robby Albarado. Taking the lead soon after the start of the six-furlong event, the Greg Gilchrist-trained three-year-old set splits of :21 3/5, :44 2/5 and :56 before stopping the clock in 1:08 2/5 as the 8-5 favorite.

Indyanne captured her first four career starts by easy margins, including a 9 1/2-length score in the Azalea S. (G3) in mid-July. The gray miss suffered her first loss when second by a half-length in the Victory Ride S. (G3) last out, but gutted out the win here to improve her mark to 6-5-1-0 having now banked $434,870. She also earned an automatic berth to the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint on October 24 at Santa Anita.

The Kentucky-bred lass paid out $5.40, $3.40 and $2.80 while keying the $18 exacta, $53.20 trifecta and $437.60 superfecta (1-7-5-10). Wild Gams (Forest Wildcat) rated in midpack, came for her run down the lane and was making up ground on Indyanne after drifting in down stretch. The 3-1 second choice was worth $3.40 and $2.60, and it was another four lengths back to Sugar Swirl (Touch Gold), who gave back $3 as the near 7-2 third pick.

Indian Delight (Devil His Due), Sweet Hope (Lemon Drop Kid), Any Limit (Limit Out), Cash's Girl (Northern Afleet) and Graeme Six (Graeme Hall) completed the order under the line after Dhanyata (Ire) (Danetime) and Golden Doc A (Unusual Heat) were withdrawn.

Bred by Offshoot Farm LLC, Indyanne sold for $375,000 to her current connections as a Fasig-Tipton February two-year-old. She is out of the Silver Ghost mare Merchant, who has also produced an unraced juvenile colt named Recruit (Stormy Atlantic) and an unnamed yearling colt by Cactus Ridge. This is the same family as Grade 3 winner Double Ready (Nodouble) and Grade 2-placed stakes winner Never Wavering (Wavering Monarch).
