Gary and Cecil Barber's COST OF FREEDOM (Cee's Tizzy) was at the top of his game in Saturday's $100,000 Los Angeles H. (G3), recording a comfortable wire-to-wire decision over the Cushion Track at Hollywood Park. Trained by John Sadler, the Grade 1-winning seven-year-old gelding sprinted right to the front out of the gate and controlled the pace through fractions of :22, :44 2/5 and :56 beneath Tyler Baze. E Z's Gentleman (Yankee Gentleman) made a run to reach contention in midstretch, but the winner was never seriously threatened, completing the six-furlong event in 1:08 2/5. The even-money favorite favorite returned $4, $3 and $2.60 to his backers.

E Z's Gentleman, the 8-1 fourth choice among seven rivals, finished three-quarters of a length back in second and paid $5.80 and $4.20. It was 1 3/4 lengths back to the 34-1 longshot My Summer Slew (Siberian Summer), who yielded $7.40. M One Rifle (One Man Army), Hiya Silver (Silver Charm), Jiggly (In Excess [Ire]) and Bet on Victor (Yankee Victor) completed the order of finish.

The $1 exotics totaled $11 (exacta), $149.50 (trifecta) and $466.70 (3-7-2-8 superfecta).

Bred in California by Harris Farms, Cost of Freedom was claimed by his current connections for $50,000 in July 2008. He went on to capture the Ancient Title (G1) two starts later. The dark bay was scheduled to run in the 2008 Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) but was scratched the morning of the race by the stewards. Cost of Freedom was then sidelined until last September, returning off the lengthy layoff with a pair of fourth-place finishes, but rounded out 2009 with an excellent head third in the Breeders' Cup Sprint.

Cost of Freedom opened 2010 with a sharp 4 1/2-length score in a May 6 allowance/optional event at Hollywood and has now won two straight. He's earned $606,105 from a 15-8-1-3 line. Out of the winning Moscow Ballet mare Freedom Dance, Cost of Freedom is a half-sibling to an unnamed juvenile colt by Kitten's Joy and a 2010 filly by In Excess (Ire).
