Coffeepot Stables' Imposing Grace reeled in her first ever stakes victory in
Saturday's Grade 3, $150,000
Arlington Matron at Arlington Park as the 8-1 longshot paid $19.20, $9 and
$5.40 to her supporters.
The Wayne Catalano charge was under a light rating in the opening stages as
she stalked just off pacesetter and eventual third-place finisher Lotta Lovin,
who posted leisurely fractions of :24 4/5, :49 1/5 and 1:13 3/5.
"I wasn't expecting to be so close to the pace but she broke well and was
sitting extremely comfortable on the backstretch," rider Channing Hill said.
"She gave me all the confidence in the world picking it up at the-eighth pole.
When she got her head in front, she got to playing around a little bit."
Imposing Grace drew even with Lotta Lovin as they raced into the upper
stretch. The four-year-old filly then found herself in a duel down the stretch
but edged forward late for a half-length victory.
Imposing Grace stopped the clock in 1:50 1/5 for the 1 1/8-mile contest over
the Polytrack.
Sisterhood came on late to grab second, a neck over Lotta Lovin who in turn
had a neck up on 5-2 favorite Ausus in fourth. Distorted Legacy, Hooh Why, Ice
Cream Silence and Diva's Diamond rounded out the order of finish while Absolute
Crackers was scratched.

Imposing Grace ran against graded company for the first time earlier this
month in the La Troienne, finishing sixth. In her two previous starts
before the La Troienne she was runner-up in the New Orleans Ladies Stakes and
Tiffany Lass Stakes. The dark bay broke her maiden over the Polytrack at
Arlington in only her second career start back in July of last year.
Imposing Grace banked $87,300 for her first stakes win to boost her bankroll
to $241,320 from an 11-4-4-0 career line.
The daughter of Empire Maker was bred in Kentucky by Briland Farm and Mr. &
Mrs. Robert O. Mitchell, and is out of the unraced Gold Legend mare Chao Praya,
who produced Grade 3 winner and multiple Grade 2-placed Level Playingfield. Her
third dam is Private Will, who produced stakes scorer Luramore.
Imposing Grace sold as a yearling for $75,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga
Selected sale in 2010.
