Lone Star Park names stakes for Ouija Board Lone Star Park will stage 32 stakes worth a total of more than $3.4 million during its 2007 Spring meet. Among the key changes on the stakes schedule is the renaming of the WinStar Distaff H. (G3) to the Ouija Board H. (G3). A one-mile turf event for fillies and mares with a $200,000 purse, the Ouija Board pays tribute to the recently retired two-time European Horse of the Year who captured her first Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1) title at Lone Star in 2004. The Ouija Board is one of six stakes slated for Memorial Day, May 28, 2007. Dubbed Lone Star Million Day, it ranks as the highlight of the meet at the Grand Prairie, Texas, oval and the richest day of racing in the state. The $400,000 Lone Star Park H. (G3), a 1 1/16-mile test for three-year-olds and up, anchors the card. Also on the program are the $200,000 Dallas Turf Cup H. (G3) at 1 1/8 miles, which has been moved from its customary mid-June date; the $100,000 Pin Oak Stud USA S. for sophomores going 1 1/16 miles on the grass; the $100,000 Stonerside S. for three-year-old fillies contested at seven furlongs; and the $100,000 Valid Expectations S. for distaffers sprinting six furlongs. Other notable events on the stakes schedule include the newly minted Lone Star Million Preview Day on April 28, featuring the $300,000 Texas Mile (G3) and three other stakes; the $300,000 Lone Star Derby (G3) on May 12; and Stars of Texas Day on July 7, with six state-bred contests worth $475,000. Lone Star's 67-day meet runs from April 12 through July 29.
