Lush Lashes, Lahaleeb to sell at Tattersalls December

A trio of Group 1-winning fillies are among the stars to feature in the 2009 Tattersalls December Mares catalog, which is now available. The Tattersalls December Mares Sale takes place from November 30 through December 3.

The Group 1-winning trio comprises the Mick Channon-trained three-year-old LAHALEEB (Ire) (Redback), recent winner of the E. P. Taylor S. (Can-G1) at Woodbine; the four-year-old EVA'S  REQUEST (Soviet Star), also trained by Channon, who won the Premio Lydia Tesio (Ity-G1) in Rome a week ago; and the 2008 triple Group 1 heroine LUSH LASHES (Galileo [Ire]) trained in Ireland by Jim Bolger.

In total the December Mares catalog numbers 981 lots and features broodmares in foal to all of the current top 20 active sires in Britain and Ireland, including Cape Cross (Ire), Dalakhani, Danehill Dancer, Dansili (GB), High Chaparral (Ire), Montjeu (Ire), Oasis Dream (GB) and Pivotal, as well as the only mare in foal to champion sire Galileo (Ire) to be offered in Europe this year.

Sires who covered their first mares in 2009 are also well represented with mares in foal to classic and Group 1 winners Duke of Marmalade (Ire), Henrythenavigator, New Approach, Ramonti, Sakhee's Secret, Sixties Icon (GB) and Tamayuz as well as Mount Nelson (GB), whose dam Independence (Selkirk) is cataloged in foal to last year's Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) winner Raven's Pass.

As ever, the catalog for Europe's premier breeding stock sale also has consignments from Europe's major owner/breeders including Castlemartin Stud, Cheveley Park Stud, Darley, Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard, Haras du Quesnay, Hascombe Stud, Highclere Stud, the Irish National Stud, Juddmonte Farms, Kiltinan Castle Stud, Lanwades Stud, Newsells Park Stud and Shadwell Stud as well as from leading consignors Jamie Railton, Ted Voute, John Troy and the Castlebridge
Consignment.

"The December Mares Sale is the culmination of the two-week Tattersalls December Sale, and in many ways the climax of the European sales season," Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said. "It is a quality catalog which looks set to attract the customary global cast of buyers who make the sale such a unique event in the sales calendar. Mares purchased at past Tattersalls December Sales have won classic and Group 1 races on every continent in the world in 2009, and it is this sort of success year after year that makes the sale the premier fixture of its type in Europe."

The catalog for the Tattersalls December Mares Sale is available directly from Tattersalls and all Tattersalls overseas representatives. The sale is preceded by the Tattersalls December Yearling Sale, which takes place on November 23, and the four-day Tattersalls December Foal Sale, which takes place November 25-28.
