Lady Clara brings $240,000 at OBS Winter Mixed Sale LADY CLARA (Hard Spun), a three-year-old stakes-placed filly, went to Hard Acre Farm for $240,000 to top the Horses of Racing Age section of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's 2012 Winter Mixed Sale on Monday. Consigned by Gayle Woods, agent, Hip No. 145, third in the recent Busanda Stakes at Aqueduct, is out of stakes winner Victorica (Exbourne), and is a half-sister to stakes winner King Hasperus (Kingmambo). For the Horses of Racing Age section, 71 horses sold for a total of $997,200, averaging $14,045 with a $6,500 median price. The buyback percentage was 28.3 percent. Hip 37, a yearling filly by Hard Spun consigned by Montgomery Equine Center, agent, went to Kaizen Sales, agent, for $87,000 to top the Consignor Preferred session. The bay is out of the multiple Grade 3-placed Alarming Prospect (Darn That Alarm), and is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner French Park (Ecton Park). For the Consignor Preferred session, 64 horses grossed $1,159,000, a dip of 20.5 percent compared to last year when 117 horses brought a total of $1,458,400. The average price was $18,109, up 45.3 percent from $12,465 a year ago, while the median price was $15,000, up 66 percent from $9,000 in 2011.
