Limehouse filly tops successful OBS juvenile session A Limehouse filly sold to Alex & JoAnn Lieblong for $320,000 Monday at the first session of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training. Offered by Eisaman Equine, agent, the Kentucky-bred sported Hip No. 292. The session-topper was produced by the stakes-placed Dominica (Housebuster), a full sister to stakes winner Find the Treasure. Both were reared by the Grade 3-placed stakes winner Lost Lode (Mr. Prospector), a daughter of Grade 1 winner Past Forgetting (Messenger of Song). Also among Past Forgetting's descendants are Grade 2 winners Concerto (Chief's Crown) and Sweet Fervor (Seeking the Gold), and Grade 3 victors Codified (Lear Fan) and Illusioned (Woodman). The May 6 juvenile, previously a $28,000 Keeneland September yearling, worked one furlong in :10 1/5 at last week's under tack show. A colt from the first crop of multiple Grade 1 winner Colonel John brought a final bid of $290,000 from Steven W. Young, agent. Consigned by de Meric Sales, agent, the Kentucky-bred toured the ring as Hip 26. The April 30 juvenile was produced by the winning Always Ready (Dixieland Band), a half-sister to Grade 1 winner and noted sire More Than Ready (Southern Halo). Always Ready has reared three winners and is the second dam of Peruvian Group 2 winner Sheriff Pete (Mineshaft). This extended family includes Grade 1 winners Bail Out Becky (Red Ransom) and Stephanie's Kitten (Kitten's Joy). The bay, who previously sold as a $70,000 Keeneland September yearling, worked one furlong in :10 at the under tack show. Also selling for $290,000 was a Henny Hughes son of the multiple stakes-placed Dress for Succes (Tricky Mister). K.K. Eishindo was the winning bidder on Hip 300, who was consigned by Wavertree Stables (Ciaran Dunne), agent. The March 23 Kentucky-bred, who counts as a half-sister the Grade 3-placed Switch to the Lead (Songandaprayer), hails from the extended family of multiple Grade 2 winner Friendly Lover (Cutlass) and multiple Grade 3 star Gators N Bears (Stormy Atlantic), both sires. The bay sped a quarter-mile in :21 at the under tack show. FLAT JACK (Flatter), a West Virginia-bred colt, was sold privately to West Point Thoroughbreds for $285,000 after leaving the ring. Hip 5 was offered by Ocala Stud, agent. Produced by the winning Adena's Girl (Personal Flag), Flat Jack is a half-brother to the multiple stakes-placed producer Ready and Tough (Good and Tough). This female family yielded Preakness winner Prairie Bayou (Little Missouri), the champion three-year-old male of 1993, and his Grade 2-winning half-brother Flitch (Demons Begone). The March 24 dark bay, who sold last October for $165,000 at Fasig-Tipton Kentucky, drilled two furlongs in :20 4/5 at the under tack show. At the conclusion of trading Monday, 189 horses had sold for $11,372,500, an increase of 51 percent over the corresponding session in 2012 when the sale of 186 juveniles grossed $7,533,000. The average and median also rose substantially, by 48.6 and 48 percent, respectively. The average jumped from $40,500 to $60,172, while the median went from $25,000 to $37,000.
