Breeders' Cup post draw set for October 21 The Breeders' Cup announced Friday that post positions for all 14 races of the 25th Breeders' Cup World Championships will be drawn on October 21 at Santa Anita Park following the closing of entries at 10 a.m. (PDT). The Breeders' Cup, Thoroughbred racing's most prestigious global event consisting of 14 races and $25.5 million in purses, will be run on October 24-25 at Santa Anita and will be televised live on ABC, ESPN and to more than 130 countries. The post position draw will be conducted in two sections at Santa Anita. Beginning at 11:15 a.m. in Baldwin Terrace, located on the second floor of the west grandstand, the following 10 Breeders' Cup races will be drawn: the $1 million Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint; the $1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf; the $2 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1); the $500,000 Breeders' Cup Marathon; the $1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf; the $1 million Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile; the $1 million Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint; the $2 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1); the $2 million Breeders' Cup Mile (G1); and the $2 million Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1). At 1 p.m. in the FrontRunner restaurant, the $2 million Ladies' Classic (G1), the $3 million Breeders' Cup Turf (G1) and the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) will be drawn. TVG will televise live the draw for the Filly and Mare Turf, the Ladies Classic, the Turf and the Classic. All other Oak Tree Racing Association races for the October 24-25 programs will be drawn on October 21.
