It was Film Maker All Along Though Courtlandt Farms' FILM MAKER (Dynaformer) wasn't on the lead in the early part of Saturday's $190,000 All Along Breeders' Cup S. (G3), the six-year-old veteran was in front when it really mattered -- at the the wire. Stalking the early pace under Ramon Dominguez, the dark bay mare put in her run on the outside in the stretch to easily capture the 1 1/8-mile Colonial Downs test by 3 1/4 lengths. Stopping the clock on the firm turf in 1:46 2/5, Film Maker returned $5.40, $3.40 and $2.60 as the near 6-5 second choice while beginning the $39 exacta and $297.20 trifecta. Art Fan (Lear Fan) was quickest from the gate and proceeded to lead the field through splits of :24, :48 1/5 and 1:11 1/5. Just in behind her was Humoristic (Sefapiano) and Wend (Pulpit). Film Maker was content to run just to the inside of Wend, but began her rally rounding the turn and passed the two in front of her to take control of second by the time Art Fan had gone a mile in 1:34 3/5. From there, the only question left to answer was the final winning margin, as the H. Graham Motion-trained Film Maker easily pulled away from her rivals to win her 2006 bow. Latice (Ire) (Inchinor [GB]) came with a late run of her own, but was no match for the winner. She paid $6.60 and $4.20 at 6-1 for taking second by two lengths over Art Fan, who held on to return $3.80 as the 20-1 longshot. It was another half-length back to Humoristic, who completed the 1-5-4-6 superfecta ($1) that was worth $535.80. Wend came in another length back and was followed by Joint Aspiration (GB) (Pivotal). Film Maker adds this one to a resume that already includes victories in the 2003 editions of the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup S. (G1) and Lake George S. (G3) as well as the 2005 La Prevoyante H. (G2) and Gallorette H. (G3). She won this race in 2004 but sat out last year's running, and also owns nine black-type placings, including the past two editions of the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1). From a 24-8-5-7 line, she has now accumulated $1,493,730 in lifetime earnings. Bred in Kentucky by Tac Holdings Inc., Film Maker was a $70,000 RNA as a 2000 Keeneland November weanling. The first registered foal out of the Mr. Prospector mare Miss Du Bois, Film Maker has an unraced juvenile half-sister named South Ocean Blvd (Capote) and an unnamed yearling full brother.
