TRACK BANDIT PREVIEWS
RAGS TO RICHES (A.P. Indy) highlights a field of seven in Sunday's $300,000 Santa Anita Oaks (G1). A six-length maiden winner in early January, the chestnut stepped up to face the best three-year-old fillies in California in the February 10 Las Virgenes S. (G1) and traveled wide throughout. However, inexperience and lost ground wouldn't stop Rags to Riches. She offered an amazing five wide rally into the stretch and eventually caught a game BARONESS THATCHER (Johannesburg) to win going away. The Todd Pletcher-trained miss looks special, and we expect her to prove impossible to deny under Garrett Gomez. Baroness Thatcher is the biggest threat. Winner of the Santa Ysabel S. (G3) from just off the pace two starts back, the Patrick Biancone pupil broke running in the Las Virgenes and opened a clear early advantage. She never quit, finishing two lengths clear of third, and Baroness Thatcher could get away with soft fractions on the lead here. The chestnut appears to really like Santa Anita, and she's been training well in preparation for this start. RUNWAY ROSIE (Include) owns a decent late kick, is well drawn on the rail and has recorded bullets in her last two workouts for David Hofmans. Third in the Las Virgenes, the gray filly has run well in both starts this year and will probably offer some value. We wouldn't be surprised to see her run well under Richard Migliore. SILVER SWALLOW (Alphabet Soup) was a good-looking maiden special weight victress last time for Bruce Headley after being disqualified from a first-place finish in the start before. She's displayed a nice turn of foot, owns commendable BRIS Speed and Pace numbers and should have no trouble with the added ground in her two turn debut given her pedigree. Consider for part. CASH INCLUDED (Include) captured the Oak Leaf Breeders' Cup S. (G1) at this distance and finished a decent fifth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1), but she'll need to show more than she did finishing fourth in her seasonal bow, the Las Virgenes. The Craig Dollase trainee is eligible to improve, but we're not excited about her chances. Turf Paradise shipper SLEW O' PLATINUM (Stephen Got Even) has earned Speed ratings in the 80s in her last three starts and was no match for the winner in the Arizona Oaks last out. QUICKANDQUIETQUEEN (Quiet American) broke her maiden in her third career start last out but earned only a 79 Speed rating.
