Rags to Riches back at Belmont Belmont S. (G1) victress RAGS TO RICHES (A.P. Indy) returned to trainer Todd Pletcher's barn at Belmont Park on Thursday night after spending two days undergoing a physical examination at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine's New Bolton Center. The massive chestnut miss was pulled up on the track Sunday at the start of a five-furlong workout when exercise rider Lauren Robson felt that something wasn't right. Pletcher found nothing wrong with the filly and a subsequent exam by Dr. Steve Allday also found her to be sound. However, Dr. Allday recommended that she be sent to the New Bolton Center for a complete examination. "The results of the exam will be reviewed by Dr. Paul Thorpe, the attending veterinarian for owners Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith," Pletcher said. "Dr. Thorpe will be flying in from Ireland (on Saturday) to go over the results with us. If everything checks out well, she could still make the (August 18) Alabama (G1)." Rags to Riches, the first filly in 102 years to win the Belmont, has missed in just one start, that coming in her career debut. Since then, the sophomore has captured the Kentucky Oaks (G1), Santa Anita Oaks (G1) and Las Virgenes S. (G1) as well as her classic score in the Belmont.
