Now, for a few points of clarification:1.) Post position draws were held in the smoke-filled, tobacco-stained bullpen occupied by the BRIS editorial staff, with members of a prestigious accounting firm (which shall remain nameless) in attendance for verification purposes. Names were drawn from a No. 7 mayonnaise jar. 2.) Trainers and jockeys will be added for each race "recap." 3.) A mini-profile of each contestant will be provided. 4.) Race revisions were as follows:

5.) I chose not to run a Filly & Mare Turf race because it would have been
comprised of "second stringers" who were not good enough to make the other
turf events.
6.) I left CIGAR out of the Classic for several reasons. First, he didn't face
much during "the streak." Dramatic Gold, Eltish, Personal Merit,
Prolanzier, Soul of the Matter, L'Carriere, Unaccounted For, Tinners Way,
Devil His Due and Concern were very good -- but not great -- horses.
Second, he never ran any really fast times or earned any stratospheric
speed figures. Those who were impressed with his Breeders' Cup Classic (G1)
win at Belmont Park in 1:59 2/5 may not realize that Inside Information's
race was even faster. Her 1 1/4-mile projected time was 1:59! Third, the
media jumped on the Cigar bandwagon and helped create his aura of
invincibility. I had Cigar on the bubble for the Century Dream Classic,
just behind War Admiral, Nashua, Alydar, Sunday Silence and Easy Goer, in
that order.
