Search Results bounced back from her first career loss in last month’s Kentucky Oaks (G1) with a half-length score in the $480,000 Acorn S. (G1) at Belmont Park on Saturday.

Favored at 9-10 against four rivals, Search Results rated three deep behind Dayoutoftheoffice, who attempted to slow the pace down after the scratch of Miss Brazil left her as the controlling speed. Although the fractions of :23.50, :47.23, and 1:11 were sensible, Dayoutoftheoffice offered little resistance when Search Results bid for the lead in upper stretch.

Edging away with a furlong to go, Search Results had to withstand one final bid from Obligatory, the early trailer who was likely compromised by the lack of pace and whose late surge proved belated. The winning margin for Search Results was a half-length.

Owned by Klaravich Stables and trained by Chad Brown, Search Results paid $3.80 after covering one mile over a fast track in 1:35.50 under Javier Castellano, substituting for the injured Irad Ortiz Jr. Obligatory finished a length in front of Make Mischief, who edged Dayoutoftheoffice by a nose for third. Travel Column trailed.

A debut winner on Jan. 3, Search Results subsequently captured two stakes at Aqueduct, the one-mile Busher S. and the nine-furlong Gazelle (G3). In the Kentucky Oaks, the daughter of Flatter courageously ran the favored Malathaat to a neck decision. Search Results has now earned $804,000.

“I’m just so proud of her to come back in five weeks after a real dog fight with Malathaat,” Brown said. “To bounce right back and lay it on the line again, this filly has so much talent and so much heart.”

Bred in Kentucky by Machmer Hall and a $310,000 Keeneland September purchase, Search Results was produced by the Grade 3-placed Co Cola, by Candy Ride. This female family has also yielded multiple Grade/Group 1 winner and UAE highweight Mind Your Biscuits.
