Acclamation colt tops Goresbridge Breeze-Up sale

Last updated: 5/28/07 10:05 PM

The red-hot Acclamation has been quick off the mark this term, being

responsible for no fewer than 10 individual winners and Sunday's Isabel

Morris S. victor Pencil Hill, and it was a son of the leading freshman

sire who topped the billing at the second Goresbridge Breeze-Up sale on Monday. Consigned by Mill View Stud, Hip No. 71 is from the family of Belong to Me and was

knocked down to Padraic Maloney for 105,000.

Acclamation was also responsible for Low Gallop Stables's Hip 33, purchased by Gary Moore Racing for 66,000. The colt is a half-brother to listed-placed Grand Marque (Grand

Lodge).

Con Marnane's operation was responsible for

Hip 54, a son of Broken Vow whose second dam is Grade 2 victress Funistrada

(Fappiano). Agent Pat Neary secured the colt for 80,000. Powerstown Stud's Hip

47 was always going to be popular as the only offering of Danehill Dancer

in the catalog, and the daughter of the multiple stakes-winning Hot Tin Roof

(Thatching) sold to BBA Ireland for 70,000.

Despite still being in its infancy,

the sale received a significant boost on Sunday when graduate Shot Bless

(Daggers Drawn) captured the Premio Mario Incisa (Ity-G3) at the San Siro. With consignors like Bansha

House Stables on board, the momentum suggested a sharp increase on the inaugural

trade and so it proved.

Managing Director Martin Donohoe was

delighted with the outcome of the auction.

"Demand at the better end of the

market is strong, but it also seems quite healthy at the other levels, too," he

told the Racing Post. "We have tried to upgrade the quality of the sale this

year and I think that this has been reflected in the prices that we have seen

here today."
