Aga Khan mares in demand at Deauville

Last updated: 12/4/05 4:39 PM

As in the past fortnight at Kildare and Newmarket, it was His Highness the Aga

Khan's

offerings that once again lit up the market, with Suprina Bloodstock snapping up the session-topper DARASA

(Barathea [Ire]). Consigned as Hip No. 286, the five-year-old

mare is in foal to Domedriver (Ire),

the 2002 Breeders' Cup Mile (G1) winner, and was knocked down to

Patricia Boutin's

agency for 160,000.

Later in the afternoon, Gilles Forien's FIPS stepped in to

secure Hip 330,

the four-year-old HALEEMA (College Chapel). A half-sister to the

stakes place-getter Halawanda (Ashkalani) is carrying a foal by Barathea (Ire) and was purchased for 130,000.

Carlos Laffon-Parias also bought two from the draft, headed by Hip 349, KERAKA

(Storm Bird). About to turn 15-years old, the mare from the family of Kalanisi (Ire)

(Doyoun) has produced two stakes

performers in

Kermiyana (Green Desert) and Keramani (Linamix) and was knocked down to the trainer for

80,000. He added

KENTUCKY KAPER (The Prime Minister) later for 60,000. Consigned as Hip 452, the

11-year-old

graded scorer has produced two winners and is in foal to Linamix.

Despite

the average being

down on the equivalent session in 2004, the overall figure stayed up by over three percent due to

the buoyant first day's trade. Monday's final session includes yearlings.
