'All Others' closes as 8-5 favorite of KDFW Pool 1

Last updated: 2/10/13 8:29 PM

Pool 1 of the Kentucky Derby

Future Wager (KDFW), the first of three such pools in 2013, saw fans bet the "All Others" (#24)

option down to 8-5 favoritism when betting closed on Sunday.

The mutuel field, or "All Others," was the 9-5 morning-line

favorite when KDFW Pool 1 opened on Friday at noon (EST) and

remained an emphatic 7-5 fan favorite after Saturday's second day of betting in

the pool. That betting interest includes all three-year-old Thoroughbreds other than

the 23 individual horses on the KDFW Pool 1 betting roster.

No other betting interest closed at less than double digits. Trainer Todd Pletcher's

unbeaten Verrazano, (#20), who has yet to run in a stakes race, was the pool's

second betting choice, closing at 11-1 on Sunday.

Pletcher, who saddled Super Saver to win the 2010 Run for

the Roses, trains seven of the 23 individual horses in Pool 1. His other pupils,

with their final odds, are as follows: Grade 3 Withers winner Revolutionary (#16, 13-1), Grade 1 CashCall

Futurity victor Violence (#21, 13-1), Breeders' Cup Juvenile

hero and reigning juvenile champion Shanghai Bobby (#17, 14-1), dual Grade 2 scorer Overanalyze (#14,

33-1), Grade 2-placed Delhomme (#3, 55-1) and multiple Grade 1-placed Capo Bastone (#1,

58-1).

The Bob Baffert-trained Flashback was the second favorite among the

individual betting interests, closing at 12-1. The gray colt is unbeaten from

two starts thus far, including a 6 1/4-length romp in the Grade 2 Robert B. Lewis

in his stakes debut on February 2.

The KDFW offers fans an opportunity

to bet on potential contenders for the Kentucky Derby well in advance

of the event at odds that could be significantly more attractive than those

available on the day of the race. The $2 million classic will be run for the 139th consecutive year at

Churchill Downs on May 4.

Each Kentucky Derby Future pool offers $2 minimum win

betting and exacta wagering, with the latter available in the form of $2 minimum

straight exacta bets or $1-minimum exacta boxes and part-wheels. No scratches or

betting refunds are permitted in the Derby Future Wager, but betting on an

individual horse will be suspended immediately if Churchill Downs determines

that an injury, illness or other circumstance revealed during the pool would

prevent that horse from competing in the Kentucky Derby.

Information on the Kentucky Derby is available online at

the official event website at
