Angela Renee sells for $3 million at Fasig-Tipton

Three Grade 1 stars by Street Sense proved popular -- sophomore CALLBACK,

snared as Hip 163 by Elevage Bloodstock for $2.8 million; the four-year-old

filly SWEET REASON, who sold for $2.7 million to Katsumi Yoshida; and the

six-year-old broodmare AUBBY K, who commanded $2.4 million from Summer Wind

Farm.

Callback, successful in the January 31 Las Virgenes (G1) and March 22 Sunland

Park Oaks, was second in the May 1 Eight Belles (G3) in her only subsequent

start. She was consigned by owner Spendthrift Farm, which labeled her as a

racing or broodmare prospect. Callback is out of the unraced Quickest (Forest

Wildcat), a half-sister to 2010 Kentucky Derby (G1) hero and emerging young sire

Super Saver (Maria's Mon) from a superb Phipps family. 

Sweet Reason, touring the ring as Hip 127, was consigned as a broodmare

prospect by Bluewater Sales, agent. Victorious in the 2013 Spinaway (G1) along

with last season's Acorn (G1) and Test (G1), she is a half-sister to Grade 3

winner Don't Forget Gil (Kafwain).

Aubby K, queen of the 2013 Humana Distaff (G1), produced her first foal (a

Tapit colt) this season and is believed to be back in foal to that leading sire

on an April 9 cover. Listed as Hip 155, she came from the consignment of Three

Chimneys Farm, agent. Her foal also sold Sunday, under the Three Chimneys banner

as Hip 47, and ranked as the top-selling weanling at $600,000. Mill Valley

Racing acquired the February 20 bay.

Surpassing the $2 million threshold earlier in the session was LET FAITH

ARISE (Kafwain), Hip 89, who was snapped up by Marie Jones for $2.1 million.

Taylor Made offered the five-year-old mare carrying her first foal by Tapit on a

February 15 cover. Let Faith Arise earned her career high in the 2014 Santa

Margarita (G1).

Upon the conclusion of the night's trade, Fasig-Tipton reported that 92

horses sold for $43,666,000, a decline of 31.4 percent from the $63,678,000

grossed by 108 in 2014. The average dropped 19.5 percent, from $589,611 to

$474,630. But more positively, the $235,000 median represented a 17.5 percent

increase from last year's $200,000.
