Champion American Pharoah (Pioneerof the Nile), a leading member of trainer Bob Baffert's

"best

crop of three-year-olds in years," worked five furlongs Sunday morning at Santa Anita

Park in 1:00 2/5 as the bay colt prepares

for his three-year-old debut.

American Pharoah was clocked in :47 2/5 for four furlongs under Martin

Garcia, who was aboard the bay colt for the 9 a.m. (PST) drill.

"Very impressive; he was breezing," said Baffert, who is

mulling either the $400,000 San Felipe S. (G2) at Santa Anita on March 7 or the

$750,000 Rebel S. (G2) at

Oaklawn Park on March 14 for the Ahmed Zayat homebred.

"It will be one of them," Baffert said of the

aforementioned two races. "He handled the work pretty well. He's coming around

pretty quickly."

Sunday's move was American Pharoah's third recorded breeze since

missing the Breeders' Cup Juvenile last November 1 due to a suspensory-related

injury.

In other news from the Baffert barn, the Hall of Fame

trainer said both Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) winner Bayern (Offlee Wild) and

Grade 1 hero Hopperunity (Any Given Saturday) were on the track Sunday but as for a race, he had

"no plans."

Power Jam (Concord Point), who romped by 4 1/4 lengths against five rivals in a scintillating

debut on Saturday at Santa Anita after a series of bullet works, was "no

surprise" to Baffert. "He's a really fast horse, like his sire,"

Baffert said.

Power Jam was bred in Kentucky by owner Kaleem Shah, who

was on hand with his son, Arman, for the race.

"Kaleem was so pumped up,"

Baffert said.
