BC nomination discount for horses of racing age ends July

15

Owners of horses of racing age currently not nominated to the Breeders' Cup

can nominate their runners at discounted rates prior to 11:59 p.m. on July 15

for competition in this year's Breeders' Cup World Championships, November 1-2

at Santa Anita Park as well as all future Breeders' Cup Championship events and

racing programs.

At this time, two-year-olds by a nominated Breeders' Cup stallion can join

the program for US$12,000; Northern Hemisphere three-year-olds and older for

US$50,000 and Southern Hemisphere three-year-olds and older for US$25,000.

All racehorses must be nominated to the Breeders' Cup in order to compete in

the World Championships. If the July 15 deadline is missed, the price for

runners by nominated stallions increases to US$100,000 and must be done by

October 21, the pre-entry deadline for the Breeders' Cup World Championships

races.

New for 2013, Breeders' Cup Limited will provide a shipping allowance for all

horses based outside of California who are entered in this year's World

Championships: $10,000 for domestic starters and $40,000 for international

runners. Also new for 2013, entry fees have been reduced to 2 percent, a 33

percent reduction in fees from 2012.

This early horses of racing age deadline is especially important for owners

of two-year-olds. Even if they are not ready to compete this year, this will be

the only time they can be nominated at the discounted $12,000 nomination fee.

Once they turn three, the early price increases to $50,000 by July 15.

Owners may take advantage of this early discount deadline and nominate their

horses of racing age online at

members.breederscup.com or by calling the Breeders' Cup Racing department at

859-514-9422.

Owners of horses of racing age by non-nominated stallions can also take

advantage of discounted prices before July 15. Two-year-olds by non-nominated

stallions can join the program for US$18,000; Northern Hemisphere

three-year-olds and older for US$100,000 and Southern Hemisphere three-year-olds

and older for US$50,000.

Following the July 15 deadline the price for runners by non-nominated

stallions increases to US$200,000 up until the time of the October 21 pre-entry

deadline.
