In his first workout since being eased in the June 7 Belmont S. (G1),

Kentucky Derby (G1) and Preakness S. (G1) winner BIG BROWN (Boundary) breezed

five furlongs in a slow 1:06 3/5 over a fast track at Aqueduct on Wednesday under

regular exercise rider Michelle Nevin. According to Aqueduct's clocker, Big Brown's

split times were :14 1/5, :27 3/5 and :53 3/5, and he was caught galloping out

six furlongs in 1:21 1/5. Trainer Richard Dutrow was unconcerned about the final

time.

"It was no big deal, a nice easy breeze," Dutrow said of the slow work. "It

was his first breeze back. I told Michelle not to go too fast. I'd rather it be

too slow than too fast. He looks like he's good.

"His feet are in good shape. He was shod in front Monday and behind (on

Tuesday) and everything looks good. The quarter-crack is long gone."

Big Brown is pointing toward the $1 million Haskell Invitational (G1) on

August 3 at Monmouth Park.
