Bravo injured in spill
Jockey Joe Bravo was taken to Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New
Jersey, for X-rays after being unseated from his mount during the running of
Thursday's 7TH race at Monmouth Park. The track's leading jockey was riding
between horses aboard Maid of Sunlight (Crafty Friend) when N' Bearsohmy
(Tactical Advantage) veered out in the stretch, bumping Dice in a Vice (Artax),
who in turn bumped Maid of Sunlight, unseating Bravo.
"He was complaining of difficulty breathing and mid and lower back pain,"
Monmouth Medical Director Dr. Angelo Chinnici said. "I sent him to Monmouth
Medical to rule out a possible punctured left lung and fractured left clavicle
(collarbone)."
Bravo leads his nearest competitor, Stewart Elliott, by a 76-49 win margin.
He has captured 10 riding titles at the Jersey Shore track, more than any rider
in Monmouth history.
