Charles Cono LLC's CONVEYOR'S ANGEL (Conveyor) swept into contention

four wide turning for home and outgamed a surging Singalong (GB) (Singspiel

[Ire]) to the wire in winning the $150,000

Buena Vista H. (G2) over the good

Santa Anita turf on Presidents' Day. Conditioned by Christopher Paasch, the dark

bay settled in last early under Saul Arias as 2-1 favorite Mea Domina (Dance

Brightly) was alone on the front through fractions of :23 and :46 3/5.

Conveyor's Angel crept to midfield by the time the leader had clocked 1:10 4/5

for six furlongs.

As the field approached the final turn, the winner

began to find her best stride and showed tenacity in holding Singalong a head

shy at the wire, getting one mile in 1:35 3/5. The 22-1Conveyor's Angel, who was

disqualified from a win over that same rival in the recent Tuzla H., paid $46.40, $16.80 and $7.60,

while keying the $1 exotics: $114.50 exacta, $560.80 trifecta and (10-3-8-2)

$1,842.70 superfecta.

Singalong rallied between horses in late stretch but could not get past

the winner, settling for the place at 5-1 to return $6.40 and $4.40. Attima (GB) (Zafonic) took the lead

at the head of the lane but couldn't hold off the top pair, garnering the show

as the 5-2 second choice and yielding $3.40. Mea Domina capped off the super

another half-length back and was followed by 3-1 third choice Grande Melody

(Ire) (Grand Lodge), Maxxi Arte (Ire) (Danehill Dancer), Flip Flop (Fr) (Zieten)

and Quemar (NZ) (Haafiz [Ire]). Beneficial Bartok (Bartok [Ire]) and Clinet (Ire) (Docksider)

were withdrawn, as was Berbatim (Bernstein), who was an early scratch after she

"tied up."

Conveyor's Angel earned a third stakes win in here, following tallies in

the 2004 Hidden Light S. and 2005 Golden Poppy Breeders' Cup S. The five-year-old boosted

her bankroll to $307,858, from a 24-5-3-2 lifetime mark, which includes a

runner-up finish in the 2004 Miesque S. (G3) and three other stakes placings.

The mare was bred in the Sunshine State by Bill and Debra Backlinie, and is

out of the unraced Supreme Angel (Prince Valid), making her a half-sister to

1999 Tropical Park Derby (G3) hero Valid Reprized (Reprized).
